The gauge increases upon you defeat the enemy and recover the blue crystals dropped from the fallen enemy. Once it is maxed out, you will gain Synthesis points for upgrading your character's weapon. Synthesis points is necessary to enfuse items into the weapon. If there is insufficient Synth points, the process is unable to take place. For the type of items that enhances this ability, please refer to the Item Bestiary. >> ABS Points Conditions ABS refers to ability points earned by your characters upon defeating the enemy. Thus it is advisible to wipe off all enemies prior on your way to escape. About half of your Glidas (currency for the game) will be deducted for your escape... vii) Options Menu `````````````````````````` You will be able to view the settings configuration at the Start Screen of the game. ______________________________________________________________________ | Option |What it does | |--------------|-------------------------------------------------------| |Cursor |If set on, the cursor will return back its last set | | |position. | |--------------|-------------------------------------------------------| |Vibration |Set the vibration setting ON or OFF. It will feature movies illustrating on how to equip items, navigation, etc. View these movies for the full basic training details. You can end the movie at any point of time with Triangle button. As you proceed further into the game, you will find more movies available for viewing. ix) Saving `````````````````````````` Like traditional RPGs, you will find save points located in towns. Save Points are indicated by red shields surrounded by red rings. Just hit X when Max/Monica is near the save point. You can save your game into the desired memory card slot. You can hit Triangle to save your game while viewing the dungeon listing screen. x) Getting Items/Open Chests ```````````````````````````````````` The idea is similar to Final Fantasy IX. You will find a ! icon appearing on top of your active character's head. Hit X to explore the item. Chests position are not fixed in dungeons or cities. They appear randomnly. Minature chests contains power-up items such as Fruit of Eden (increases max HP), Potato Pie (increases Max's defence) and Witch's Parifact (increases Monica's defence). These items appears after you completed a story event (for Chapter 1) and as for subsequent chapters, you need to complete the Georama Conditions. You can also get items from destroying crates/rocks/vases found in dungeons. This can be done by using R1 + X to lift up the item and X again to throw the item. ------------- II --------------- D u n g e o n B a s i c s -------------------------------- The objective of clearing dungeons is to get an item called "Gate Key", which appears differently for different dungeons. The Gate Key is held by one of the monsters in the area. Defeat it and you will able to obtain it. Next, you need to locate the exit (indicated by a large yellow dot) and use the key (activate the item sub-menu with Square button and select the item). The dungeon maps are randomnly generated. The location of the exit is random and even the chests are random. Heck, almost everything is random except for the type of monsters appearing in the area. i) Attacking ````````````````````````````````````` Dark Cloud 2 battle system is unique as compared to traditional RPGs. It has some resemblance with Kingdom Hearts' battle system. You can control your character to move freely on the battlefield and access the menu at the same time. Max starts with his Battle Wrench, a short range weapon. He will get his projectile weapon - a gun-type weapon from Donny after you have completed Prelude. Monica starts with the sword as you have seen her taking it at the Prelude. Her long-range weapon is using magic. All these commands can be ONLY used while in Dungeons. >> Combo Hit This can be done with the character's right-hand weapon i.e. the short range weapon. You can do combo strikes by hit the X button repeatedly as your character attacks the enemy. The chain lasts for a maximum of 5 hits. You will end the last hit with a knock-down attack. The combo hit differs depends on the weapon that your character is using. The damage dealt will progressively increase with the number of hits. >> Charged Attack To do a charged attack, you just need to hold down the X button and release it for your character to release a heavy hit. You can even hit aerial targets surrounding your character. >> Final Blow Lock on the target and tap the left analog stick towards the target and hit X. The character will deal a jumping leap with a swing of the weapon, dealing heavy damage. >> Backflip Lock on the target and tap the left analog stick away the target and hit X. Your character will do a flying backflip that separates him/her away from the target. Please note while in mid-air your character is vulunerable to all sorts of attacks. * Magic-Absorb Blade (Monica ONLY) Magic-Absorb Blade is a skill that allows you to absorb the energy of elemental attacks, such as Fire, while guarding. When you swing your sword with X button, it fires back as magic. You can continuously charge up energy of 1 elemental type. If you absorb a different element type, Monica lose the magic that she stocked up. For example if you stock up 3 fire spells from an enemy, you absorbs a chill spell, you will lose all your previous fire spells that you have stocked earlier. The amount of elemental energy you can absorb depends on the durability of your equipped weapon. The weapon's durability will improve as Monica levels up and you will find more slots appearing on her weapon icon. (The slots are indicated by white dots) To release absorbed elemental energy in the form of magic, press L1 while guarding with R1. * Throw (close-ranged only, Max/Monica only) You can grab objects and hurl them at targets. This can be done by holding R1 and hit X to grab the object. Hit X again to throw the object. You can even throw enemies (of course, not for monster that are over-sized). Throw objects at enemies may cost enemies to get stunned, where you can hurl all your attacks on the unguarded enemy! ii) Restore attributes - HP/Fuel/WPN ````````````````````````````````````````` You can activate the main menu while in dungeons. You can use items from item holders by toggle the cursor on the item with D-Pad and Square button to use the item. There are 3 important statistic attribute- Hit Points, Fuel, Weapon Points >> Hit Points (HP) To restore hit points, you must give your character healing items such as Bread, Mellow Banana, Pointy Chestnut, etc. Some items will increase Max or Monica's thrist, thus you need to drink Tasty Water, etc. As the characters do not level up in this game, you can only increase Max/Monica's HP by giving him/her the Fruit of Eden, which is extremely rare and hard to get. You can also increase defences by giving Max a Potato Pie and giving Monica a Witch's Parfait. Once a character is KO'd in a dungeon, you will be bought to the character selection screen to select a fightable character. Fallen characters will be revived back to full health upon exiting the dungeon. You can revived a fallen character by using a Ressurrection Powder, which is only available in dungeons for Chapter 7 onwards or via Spheda. >> Fuel This applies to Ridepod only. Ridepod's HP is indicated by fuel gauge. You can refuel his energy source (i.e. fuel gauge) by using a Ridepod Fuel. The Ridepod Fuel can be obtained from treasure chests or crates in dungeons. You can also visit Cedric, who is located at the workshop (prior to Chapter 1) or locomotive (Sindain, Chapter 2). You can also use his character ability while having him in your party. You can buy Ridepod Fuel from Morton's Sundries for 2000 Glidas from Chapter 5 onwards. You can upgrade Ridepod's Energy Pack upon more discoveries through the Make Menu. >> WPN Points WPN points actually represents the lifeblood of your weapons. Once it reaches 0, the weapon will deal zero damage or No Effect, rendering it becoming useless. You can however restore the power by using Repair Powder items. Repair Powder restores Melee weapons for Max, Monica & Ridepod. Gun Repair Powder fixes range weapons for Max and Ring Repair Powder fixes range weapons for Monica. WPN points will decrease as you uses the weapon. The deteoriation rate will decrease if you improve the weapon's durability. You can also fix weapons via Cedric's NPC aid. iii) Reading Dungeon Map Indicators ````````````````````````````````````````` Below is a chart that shows what the indicators show: _____________________________________________________________________ |Indicators |What it represents? | |--------------------|------------------------------------------------| |Large Green Dot |Floor Entrance | |--------------------|------------------------------------------------| |Large Yellow Dot |Floor Exit | |--------------------|------------------------------------------------| |Yellow Dot |Treasure Chest/Mimics/Traps* | |--------------------|------------------------------------------------| |Glowing Yellow Dot |Coin Spot** | |--------------------|------------------------------------------------| |Purple Dot |Geostone | |--------------------|------------------------------------------------| |Red Dot |Enemy | |--------------------|------------------------------------------------| |Large ? |Healing Spring | |--------------------|------------------------------------------------| |White Dot |Proceed to undeground. Treasure chest can be Mimics or King Mimics (monsters!). Sometimes it can be empty or a bloody-trap. However if you face a chest that cannot be open, you need to use a Treasure Chest Key, which is a rare item obtained from dungeons. You can also get a lucky draw of 2 boxes - Happy Clown Present. You also have Donny to open up the locked chests if he is the support character. ** Coin Spot will result the coin flipping the moment Max or Monica steps in the area. If it is Angel, you will get bonuses such as WPN recovery, HP recovery, etc. If the coin shows Devil, good luck... iv) Status Ailments ````````````````````````````````````````` Status ailments causes your character to unable to peform what he/she normally does. It is highly recommended that you stock up these items once you gotten the opportunity to buy them from Adel. Mighty Healing can be purchased from Dr. Dell (who will joins you automatically in Chapter 3) or Star Items at Starlight Temple (Future, Chapter 3). ______________________________________________________________________ |Status |What it causes? |Remedy Item | |--------------|------------------------------------------|------------| |Poison |Slowly drain the health of effect target |Antidote | | | |Drink | |--------------|------------------------------------------|------------| |Curse |Loses the ability to transform/ change |Holy Water | | |weapons | | |--------------|------------------------------------------|------------| |Stop |Freezes your character a temporarily |Heart-Throb | | |moment of time |Cherry | |--------------|------------------------------------------|------------| |Pumped Up |Attack power up for a short period of time|N/A | |--------------|------------------------------------------|------------| |Petrification |Freezes longer than stop. To get Pumped Up status, use a Stamina Drink on your character. v) Dungeon Stage Conditions ````````````````````````````````````````` Prior to accessing the dungeons, you can find Medal conditions. If you succeed in completing the dungeon within that condition, you will get a Medal, which will be kept in the Medal Holder. SEALS - this indicate the special dungeon conditions ______________________________________________________________________ |Seal Type |What it means? | |----------------|-----------------------------------------------------| |Red |Maximillian/Ridepod cannot be used for the stage. | |----------------|-----------------------------------------------------| |Blue |Monica or her transformations cannot be used for the | | |stage. | |----------------|-----------------------------------------------------| |White |No status/HP recovery items can be used. You can | | |still recover HP via healing spring or use a weapon | | |that has Drain or Slow Heal ability enfused in it. | |----------------|-----------------------------------------------------| |For the seals listed above | |To break the above seals, defeat all enemies in that dungeon first | |with the seal ON. The seal will be broken when you play that dungeon | |for the next time. | |----------------------------------------------------------------------| MEDAL CONDITION Medals are hard to collect in my opinion. You need to finish the stage by completing the dungeon within the stated conditions. Medals earned will be kept in the Medal Holder. Medals does not indicate you are a great Dark Cloud 2 player but also allows you to obtain special clothing late in the game. The medals can be exchanged with Mayor Need (provided you have recruited the Mayor) >> Time Limit to Attack and defeat all enemies: XX:XX Defeat all the enemies in the dungeon within the XX:XX time limit. E.g. if XX:XX is 02:00, you need to clear the stage with all enemies killed in 2 minutes time! You will learnt whether you made it after all monsters have been killed. Please note that Mimics (hidden in chest) are also included! >> Spheda (This will be marked as ??? in dungeons prior to Chapter 3) After you have removed the time distortion portal at Barga's Valley in Chapter 3, you will be able to play a game of Spheda or Sphere Golfing. If you get rid of the time distortion portal using the Sphere, you will get good treasures such as gems, level-up powder, stamina potions in addition to getting a medal. You will be able to start playing Spheeda towards the end of Chapter 3. Win on same dungeon in the next few tries, nab you lesser items... >> Fishing (This will be marked as ???? in dungeons prior to getting the Fishing Rod in Chapter 2) After you've killed off all of the enemies, catch a fish on that floor with a length greater than the length the floor statistic screen specifies. For details about fishing, please refer to Fishing Basics (section 4 of the FAQ). To fish, you need to located water filled areas. >> Attack and Attack and defeat all enemies without HEALING You must not use any healing items on any of 4 playable characters. NPC support healing is also considered invalid. HP gained from Drain or Slow Heal enfused weapons is considered legal... >> Attack and Attack and defeat all enemies using only ITEMS. You should not use any weapons such as melee/ranged-types and only items for attacking. Please note that this also includes Ridepod. You can however use objects that can grab and throw as a weapon. Get a lot of "Improved Bombs", bombs made from Erik (NPC), which could set for large amount of cash or do massive damage. >> Attack and defeat all enemies using MAX'S RIGHT-HAND WEAPON MAX'S GUN MONICA'S SWORD MONICA'S MAGIC RIDEPOD MONSTER TRANSFORMATION This is a hard condition to fulfil. When it says using a specific weapon, you must be using that weapon to attack EVERYTIME. Every hit must used from that attack. Although only the last hit gains experience points for the weapon, you must be using only specific weapons. You are not allow to use items to assist you in attacking. GEORAMA MATERIALS Sometime in Chapter 2, with the aid of the Firbits from Sindain, Max will be able to built objects of the past and place in the current place via Georama system. You can get supplies for fixing up from chests in the dungeon. Just hit Triangle button to view Georama listing after you have view the dungeon status condition. The controller will vibrate and eventually a red ! will appear on top of your character's head. Move the left analog stick towards you and you will begin fishing. There will be two indicators. The vertical indicator represents the line's stamina (whether the line will snap) and the horizontal indicator represents the distance of bait (& the fish) from the location where your character is standing. The fish will try to break free and you need to tap X button to reel your line in while moving left analog in the same direction that the fish is moving towards. Do not tap X button too eagerly as it will cause the line snap faster. Tap while the vertical indicator is low. and shake the fish with the left analog stick. Do this and you should get the fish towards the edge of the pool. iv) Where to fish? ````````````````````````````````````````` You can fish anywhere as long as there is a huge water source. For dungeons, make sure you finish off all the enemies there before you begin to fish. There are medals to be earned if you caught a fish that is longer in length than the required length. v) Fishing Points & Abilities ````````````````````````````````````````` After you have caught a fish, you will be given 2 pieces of information, the fish length and Fishing Points (FP). FPs can be used to exchange for 1 ability point where you can customize your fishing rod. To gain one abiliy point for any status attribute, you need at least 100 FPs. Attribute What it does? Initial ````````` ````````````` ``````` Flight How far you can cast the reel 12 Strength Necessary for catching bigger fish 4 Resilience The line would not break that easily 6 Grip Feel just right 1 Luck Success of fishing depends on it 2 vi) Cooking Fish ````````````````````````````````````````` Raw fish can be stored in the aquarium where you can used the fish for the fish tournament or cooked with the cooking stove. Cooking Stove can be bought at Morton's Shop at Palm Brinks in Chapter 2. Cooked Fish cannot be spectralized but it can be use to restore hit points. vii) Baits and Lures ````````````````````````````````````````` >> Baits Baits can be bought from Fabio, a support character who is recruitable after you have caught a 60 cm Nonky. For tips in catching a Nonky, please refer to fish information section for details. Baits are essential to catch fish. Once a fish is caught or line breaks, the bait will be gone - thus make sure you have ample supply of them. Bait Stats Boost -------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Battan Raises fish's tentacity Carrot Raises fish's boost. Changes fish gender Evy Raises fish's stamina Mimi Raises fish's endurance Minion Raises fish's boost Petite Fish Raises fish's endurance Potato Cake Raises fish's stamina. Reduces fish's weight Prickly Raises fish's tentacity >> Lures Lure Rod is a special fishing tool that make use of special items as bait. The bait will stays on the lure as long as you have equipped it. You still keep the lure once you caught the fish unlike bait. Certain fish can only be caught using Lure. To get a Lure Rod, there are 2 methods:- 1) Win the fish tournament 2) Invent it with the following 3 photos - Fish, Lafresica Stem (Scoop) and River. Materials needed: 10 Rolling Logs, 10 Scrap of Metal and 3 Sea Dragon Crystal [Cost: 750 Glidas) Lures are special "bait" that requires some special controlling:- You can get more than by buying from female Firbit, Olivie located at the town square when you have recruited her. ------------- ------------------------------------------------------- Lure How to use it ------------- ------------------------------------------------------- Frog Move the analog stick left and right for around 4 to 5 times. Reel it for a second and repeat the process. Minnow For every 2 left/right movements, reel in a bit with X button. Repeat the process. Spinner Just cast and reel it in immediately once a fish got stuck with it. However, you will be using it like the Minnow. Fork Use it like you are using the Frog Lure You need to do these actions so as to use the lure motions to attract a fish. For example, by using the Frog Lure, you need to move the lure like a frog. You will find the in-game help for Fishing using Lures upon getting the Lure Rod. viii) Fishing Tournament ````````````````````````````````````````` Upon completing Chapter 3 while at playing Starlight Canyon dungeon, you will have cutscenes regarding the fishing tournament. Mayor Need will be organizing a fishing tournament that would took place every 10 days (game hours). Once the time limit has reached, you can visit Palm Brinks and play the tournament there. There will be an indicator show how many game hour(s) are there left for the current tournament. In other words, while the status indicator for "Fishing Tournament" is on, you will be able to enter the Fishing Tournament. To do, move to Palm Brinks. Head for the Police Station. Head right from there & there will be prompt whether you want to enter into the fishing contest. Choose "Yes" and you will find the Fishing Tournament tent being set up there... You can have a maximum of 10 fish participate in the weighing contest. However only the top 3 will be counted to your score. If your score is among the top 3, you win! If you get first, you will get the converted Lure Rod - you can catch fish by using Lure instead of baits! ix) Aquarium Basics ````````````````````````````````````````` Midway in Chapter 4, you need to invent the Aquarium to feed fish with the Electric Worm. To build the aquarium, you need to have photos of Window, Wooden Box and Fountain. You need to spend 5x Rolling Logs, 15x Water Element and 5x Glass Materials (all of these can be bought from Conda). The aquarium could store a maximum of 6 fish. The tank can be classified as 3 types - Rec, Battle & Breeding. >> Rec Under this tank, you can view the fish parameters and feed them with baits. You can build up the fish parameters under this area. Move the left analog stick to choose the spot where you drop the bait. You will see whether the fish would like it. You need to build up fish paramaters in order to win races at Finny Frenzy (Fish Race). You can also rename the fish (only once). With the aid of items, you can change the gender of fish (using a Carrot) or reduce the fish's weight (Potato Cake). Please note that you can only feed the fish once per view in the aquarium. _____________________________________________________________________ | Parameters |What it does? | |-----------------|---------------------------------------------------| |Strength |How hard the fish will be attacking other fish | |-----------------|---------------------------------------------------| |Endurance |This will affects the fish's defense | |-----------------|---------------------------------------------------| |Boost |This states how fast the fish is | |-----------------|---------------------------------------------------| |Stamina |This states how long the fish can withstand | |-----------------|---------------------------------------------------| |Tentacity |States whether the fish is calm or reckless in | | |fighting. This determines the fish's fighting | | |ability | |_________________|___________________________________________________| >> Fish Moods Under the fish parameters, you will find the fish mood indicator:- Moody - Behaves in various ways depending on mood... Sore loser - Doesn't care about winning at all. Reckless - Lacking in caution. Blows all energy out then is tired. Clownish - Fools around a lot. This affects on how well the fish fights in the Battling Tank. >> Battle To build up the parameters other than using baits to feed them, you need to have the fish to battle in fishing tank. Battling with the same type helps to build up the parameters. If you use a different type to battle, you might end up killing the fish. Battling helps to raise the fish's strength stats. It will be advisable to place two fish there while you are clearing a stage in the dungeons. >> Breeding Breeding allows you to breed two fishes (opposite genders) and get a newborn fish. The fish can be different kinds as long as they are opposite gender. To change a fish gender, just feed the fish a Carrot. You can even cross breed fishes to get a new gender. To mate, just place only 2 fish. Wait for the breeding process and you will be able to move the new fish back to the Rec Tank. Please note that it takes a while to breed newborns. For the breeding combinations, I recommend you to take a look at Dark Cloud Fish FAQ written by Leo C/Mike O, which is available at GameFAQs. x) Finny Frenzy ````````````````````````````````````````` Finny Frenzy will be introduced to you midway in Chapter 4 and you will be able to race your breeded fish! By winning the Finny Frenzy, you will be able to recruit Olivie - the female Firbit who will sell you Lures if you come first. To enter the Finny Frenzy, it is same way that you did for the fishing tournament, except the indicator must state Finny Frenzy. During every Finny Frenzy, there will be 3 races and each fish is entitled to participate only once. Each race is classified into 3 events:- 1st Heat - you must achieve to own the #1 position 2nd Heat - you must achieve to own #2 spot or better Finals - you must achieve to own #3 spot or better Each event consists of 2 laps. The race is automated and the fish's pace is dependable on how well you raised the fish. Talk to the owl and you will be given to choose your ranks - Begineer, Junior, Senior or Master. Tank Strategy ----------------- Tank 1: Keep A Steady Pace - The fish will use the same speed throughout the race. Tank 2: With All Your Might - The fish goes as fast as possible but gets tired. Tank 3: Come Out Fighting - At the beginning of race, the fish accelerates fast then goes at a steady pace. Tank 4: The Last Shall Be First - The fish begins the race with a steady pace and boosts its speed upon reaching the fishing line. Tank 5: Settle It In The Ring - Fish will bump other fishes a lot to slow them down. Strength is factor here... Tank 6: Go With The Middle - To get 2nd or 3rd placing easily, choose this... Default Set of Prizes for Finny Frenzy --------------------------------------- I'm not sure whether the prize list will be randomnized. I got this prize listing when I first played Finny Frenzy. ____________________________________________________________________ |Position | Begineer | Position | Junior | |Grand | Mardan Sword x1 | Grand | Garayan Sword x1 | |2nd | Destruction Crystal x3 | 2nd | Mighty Healing x1 | |3rd | Protector Crystal x1 | 3rd | Lighting Crystal x1 | |---------|-------------------------|----------|---------------------| |Position | Senior | Position | Master | |Grand | Mardan Garayan x1 | Grand | Sun Stone x1 | |2nd | Drain Seeker x1 | 2nd | Moon Stone x1 | |3rd | Kitchen Knife x1 | 3rd | Diamond x2 | |_________|_________________________|__________|_____________________| Upon winning a race of that class, you will get a new set of prizes for that particular class. xi) Fishing Spots ````````````````````````````````````````` For your convenience, I have listed the list of fishing spots where you could catch a fish. Apparently the Mardan Garayan is not the same fish as the "Holy One". ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Part 2: S p h e d a B a s i c s ------------------------------------------------------------------------ i) What is Spheda? ````````````````````````````````````````` Time distortion occurs in a lot of places. You will be introduced to these mini-game at Barga's Valley in Chapter 3. You need to hit the "Sphere" into "Goal". To play Spheda, you need to have a stick for Max to putt. Only Max is allow to play this mini-game. After completing the Quest, all previous dungeons with "????" marked as Medal Conditions with "Spheda". ii) How the game is played? ````````````````````````````````````````` Spheda is actually the game's golf mini-game! You need to wack the Sphere into the Time Distortion portal. You need to make use of rebounds (bumping). However there are some game rules: The portal are represented by blue or red. To close a red time distortion field, you need to wack a blue sphere into the goal. If you use a red sphere at a red time distortion field, the ball will repel even if you hit into the goal. You can change the sphere from red to blue and vice versa by using bumping. Once a sphere hits a hard ground and bounce, there are chances that it will turn into a sphere of the other colour. In a nutshell, you need to wack a sphere into a portal of its opposite colour. You will understand more about this mini-game as you play the game yourself. iii) Rules of Spheda ````````````````````````````````````````` Besides the colour of the spheres must be opposite of the distortion portal, there are other rules that you must follow:- 1) Only Max can play. You need to play as Max and he must equip with a stick. You can get the initial stick (Handy Stick) near Barga's tree house (where the nest is) at Barga's Valley. Upon completing that quest, you will get a putter (Turkey) for Spheda. To play, just equip Max with either 1 of these tools and head for the sphere for a wack! 2) Spheda can only be played in dungeons If there is a "Spheda" condition for that floor, you can play Spheda upon eliminate all enemies, the game will prompt you whether you want to move the sphere. 3) Similar rules to golf - The Handy Stick is your club. It is used to drive the sphere over long distances. You can replace this club with Falcon. - Swan (obtained from dungeons) allows you to drive the sphere over medium distances. - The Turkey is your putter. It is used to drive the sphere over short distances. - The Spheda Clubs can be upgraded, please refer to Weapon Flow Chart under Items Bestiary Section. - You will give a certain number of shots for the ball to hit the goal. The shots varies depends on the distance of your sphere spot from the goal. The longer the distance is, the more chances you are given. - If the ball drops in water or hit off-course, the shot will be forfeited. - The game will automatically ends once you used all the shots or hit the goal. - Make use of the map radar. The radar provides you the angle that the sphere is heading iv) What happened if I hit the goal? ````````````````````````````````````````` The time distortion portal will be replaced with a treasure chest. Prizes earned from Spheda are rare. You need to make use of bumping in order to switch sphere colours and gaining a better shot. v) Controls for Spheda ````````````````````````````````````````` The controls for Spheda are relatively simple, you just need to hit X button thrice for a shot. But there is a gauge that measures the shot power. Button What it does? ```````` `````````````` X Swing the sphere, power level of swing and hit Circle Cancel Left Analog Determines the aim direction SELECT Activates the map radar START Pause the game For radar indicators, please refer to Part II of the FAQ. vi) Spheda Advance Controls ````````````````````````````````````````` How to make your sphere do a spin or curve? How to time your shots precisely and accurately? All of these tricks involved understanding the Spheda Gauge. Basic Spheda Swing ```````````````````` The basic swing comprises of 2 X button hits. The first hit will indicate the power of the stroke while the second hit will determines the accuracy of the swing. In other words, you need to hit X to start. Wait it reaches the desired strength portion & hit X. Next the cursor will determine the accuracy. Just allow the cursor to stop within the Swing Indicator. << Swing Indicator >> ___________________ ___________________| Below the meter gauge, you will find 3 shaded |####|___|####| orange bars below the gauge. This indicates the accuracy of the strike on the sphere. If you miss the ### or |__| area, you will find a speech bubble with a skeleton head appearing and Max will did a poor shot. If you make it to the mid-point between ### & |_| area, you will find a music note and an indicator that says "Nice Shot!". If you hit within the area, you will get a ! sign. << Globe >> Top Spin These advance controls are not being | mentioned from the in-game help or even Slice ----|---- Hook the menu. On the lower-left corner of the | Spheda gauge, you will find a circular globe Back Spin with 4 axis similar to the diagram on the left. Tech. What it does? `````````` `````````````````` Top Spin This allows the sphere to roll faster forward Slice This allows the sphere move in a slicing motion Hook This allows you to make curve shot Back Spin The sphere will perform a back spin, thus slowing the speed. If the sphere hit an obstacle, it will be move towards the back To do these advance controls, just when you do the swing motion (i.e. after the first X button hit), you can move the left analog and the red dot will be moving on the axis of the globe meter. Hold the desired position and hit X to swing. vii) Spheda Clubs ````````````````````````````````````````` The 3 basic Spheda clubs can be obtained from chests randomnly found in dungeons - They are Falcon (for long range), Swan (for medium range) & Turkey (for short range). You can get Albatross (long range with curves) and the Flamingo (medium with curves) by building up a Spheda Club. Spheda Club Build Up Chart >> * The Handy Stick obtained from Barga's Valley cannot be upgraded. The stats included under the chart refers to the weapon's minimum stats. Long range clubs such as Albatross or Falcon are very hard to use for small areas. It would be best to have all 5 Spheda Clubs. viii) The Spheda Practice Area ````````````````````````````````````````` This can be accessed from the "Spheda Practice Area" found under th Extras Menu. To unlock it, you need to talk to Mina who is located at the lobby of City Hall. The Spheda Practice Area features a 9 time distortions course with a lot of difficulty per distortion. Your scores will be listed under a top scores chart and you can save this under the Extras file. You will begin equipped with the Turkey Spheda Club. All other in-game Spheda clubs will be included inside your item inventory. This is quite a tough challenge. You will be playing at all playable Spheda areas (all dungeons including Zelmite Mine). ------------------- V ------------------- E q u i p m e n t U p g r a d i n g ----------------------------------------- i) How to upgrade my weapon? ````````````````````````````````````````` Every playable character except for Monster Transformation has his/her own set of weapons. Both Max and Monica's weapon can be upgraded by synthesizing items into the weapon, thus upgrading their attributes. To synthesis items into a weapon, you need to fulfil the following 2 requirements:- 1) Get Synth points - this can be done by levelling up the weapon. I am not sure on how much EXP that a weapon must gain in order to level up. As the weapon level up, it gains new Synth point(s). The weapon will level up once the blue bar underneath the weapon status bar is maxed out. You will find blue crystals being absorbed by the character once you defeat an enemy right? These actually add up the existing experience points gained prior to defeating that enemy. In other words, in order to have more Synth points, you must gain more ABS points with your weapon. ABS points will be absorbed based on the final blow deal to the enemy. E.g. if you use Max's right hand weapon to kill of the target, all ABS points will be awarded to the right-hand weapon. The left hand weapon will gain 0 exp even if you have hit the enemy with it before. Magic released from Monica's Absorption Blade accounts for general ABS points. 2) Spectralize the items first - if you select an item with the X button, it will bring up the command list. Under the command list, you will find a command "Spectralize". This command allows you to convert any items into Synth items. A Synth item is actually a glowing form of items. You can spectralize items in groups. You can spectralize 4 items into 1 synth item. However to absorb the synth item formed from this spectralization process, the weapon must have 4 synth points and above. Thus, it is not advisible to spectralize too many items into 1 synth item. Weapons can be spectralized but they offered low attributes. For Ridepod, you cannot synthesize items into its weapon. Instead you need to purchase new weapons from Cedric or via inventions. Purchasing requires you to use Ridepod's exp points not Glidas by the way. ii) What is build up? ````````````````````````````````````````` Every weapons have 10 core attributes - Attack, Durability, Flame, Chill, Lightning, Wind, Exocrism, Crush, Smash & Scale. Once a weapon has accumulated the min. points for that class of weapon, you can build up the weapon to a new model. If you modified the weapon such as a Battle Wrench with 10 for Exocrism, there may be variations to the name such as Battle Wrench +1 etc. The weapons listing will be included under the Item Bestiary section. iii) How to get new weapons? ````````````````````````````````````````` If you want to customize a weapon, focus all your resources on that particular weapon, in this case, the weapon will be better than a newly bought one. You can get new weapons (advanced) via purchasing from Weapon shops or finding it in dungeons. To get new weapons for Ridepod, you need to exchange exp points gained by Ridepod for it. iv) Do weapons break as in Dark Cloud? ``````````````````````````````````````````````` Fortunately, it does not. The weapon with zero WPN will do "No effect" damage, rendering it useless. However, you can restores weapon's WPN with Repair Powders-type items. v) Weapons Augmented Abilities ``````````````````````````````````````````````` Coins obtained or purchased serves some purproses. They provide additional abilities to weapons such as poisoning, stealing, etc. To enfuse the ability, you need to get Coins, spectralize them and enfuse them into weapons. Coins can be found in dungeon chests starting in Rainbow Butterfly Wood, won from fishing races/contests, or purchased from Morton's Sundries in Chapter 8. A coins listing can be found under the Item Section. Please note that there are no coins for Proverty and Fragile. These attributes will cause you do not want them either. ______________________________________________________________________ |Abilities |Coin |What it does? | |----------|-----------------|-----------------------------------------| |ABS Up |Experience Coin |Gain 20% increase in ABS upon defeating | | | |enemies. | |----------|-----------------|-----------------------------------------| |Absorb |Absorption Coin |Absorb a small percentage of damage to | | | |enemy as HP. | |----------|-----------------|-----------------------------------------| |Critical |Bull's Eye Coin |Have higher chances of doing critical | | | |damage to enemies. | |----------|-----------------|-----------------------------------------| |Dark |Dark Coin |Increase in attacking level by 1.5 & lose| | | |some HP when attacking on enemy. | |----------|-----------------|-----------------------------------------| |Durable |Indestructible |Weapon's WPN decreases at a slower rate. | | |Coin | | |----------|-----------------|-----------------------------------------| |Fragile |N/A |Weapon's WPN decreases at a faster rate. | |----------|-----------------|-----------------------------------------| |Heal |Healing Coin |Gradually recovers HP while in dungeons. | |----------|-----------------|-----------------------------------------| |Poison |Poison Coin |Weapon causes Poison status. Poison can | | | |only reduces enemy's HP to 1 at most. | |----------|-----------------|-----------------------------------------| |Poverty |N/A |Gain 30% decrease of Glidas upon | | | |defeating enemies. | |----------|-----------------|-----------------------------------------| |Steal |Bandit Coin |Gives you a chance to steal item after | | | |an attack on the enemy | |----------|-----------------|-----------------------------------------| |Stop |Time Coin |Weapon causes Stop status. You can remove these abilities by using the coin of its opposite attribute. I.e. you need to synthesize a Wealth coin to remove the Proverty attribute. Below is a listing of opposites:- Wealth v. Poverty Critical v. Dark Durable v. Fragile Absorb v. Heal Finally, you can transfer the abilities of one weapon to another by spectralizing a weapon and synthing it to another weapon. The abilities will only transfer if the weapon you spectralize is +5 or higher. vi) Getting Crystals, Gems and Coins `````````````````````````````````````````` As you spectralize an item, it requires 1 synthesis point to enfuse the stats enhancement into a weapon. Some item requires more (especially weapons). Crystals and Gems are very useful as they provides the best upgrades to weapon stats enhancement as compared to other items. Crystals are better materials than Georama Materials use for upgrading your weapons. All of them (except for Protector Crystal & Attack Crystal) gives you +3 to a stat instead of +2 or +1 from normal items. They are cheap and relatively easy to get. However, you can get more of them at will upon restoring Starlight Temple's Star Item shop, which allows you to buy all the crystals for 150 Glidas each (exception: Power Crystal costs 200 Glidas). Gems are extremely rare. You can either win them as Georama prizes, Monster transformation prizes, Spheda prizes, Finny Frenzy, Fishing Tournament. It will be until Chapter 8 that you will be able to buy them for 10,000 Glidas each. Exceptions: Diamond's selling price is 30,000 Glidas. The Sun Stone and Moon Stone cannot be bought unlike the other gems. They are extremely rare and you can get some of them from completing the Moon Flower Palace Georama Condition 100% and at Zelmite Mines. You can get them from winning a Master Position at Finny Frenzy though. All other gems can be bought from Morton's Sundries at Chapter 8. Upon attaining a certain EXP, you can exchange them for an upgraded Ridepod Parts. Some Ridepod Parts can be bought once (the Shield Kits and Core) while others can be exchanged and you can fix them. You can get new Ridepod Parts from Cedric, G-Parts or make them through inventions. Core ```````` These parts allow you to store a specific number of shield kits. Fuel in Energy Pack can be refueled by using Ridepod Fuel (obtained from chests in dungeons or bought from G-Parts/ Cedric for 2000 EXP, Morton Sundries for 2000 Glidas). ____________________________________________________________________ |001 Energy Pack 80 HP | |____________________________________________________________________| |Photos: Belt |Items: Scrap of Metal 20 | | Milk Can | Thick Hide 01 | | Pipe | Hunk of Copper 02 | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| |Max's first invention. The strongest versions of the weapon can obtained only via invention. Weapons for Ridepod cannot be build-up or even synthesizing crystals to boost it stats. The stats for the weapons are fixed, which also means their WPN points are fixed too. Repair Powder helps to restore half of the weapon's WPN. You can also have Cedric to repair the parts by using his support ability (skill points) or talk to him and choose "Fix Ridepod Parts" option to repair the weapon. ____________________________________________________________________ |001 Barrel Cannon Cap: 023 Synth: Fl +2 WPN: 50 | |____________________________________________________________________| |Photos: Barrel |Items: Rolling Log 10 | | Fountain | Gunpowder 10 | | Mushroom | | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| |Attack 095, Exocrism 050 | |--------------------------------------------------------------------| |Made from a water barrel, but it doesn't shoot water! | |Exchange 400 EXP with Cedric for this weapon from Chapter 2 onwards | |____________________________________________________________________| ____________________________________________________________________ |002 Barrel Cannon II Cap: ??? To inflict more damage, you need to synthesize items to enhance the weapon's ability. For example, Power Crystal adds +2 to Attack while Destruction Crystal adds +3 to Smash. You can also spectralize items like weapons (which requires more Synthesize points as compared to others), items (such as Georama), ridepod parts and weapons, etc. When spectralizing an item, the icon will be replaced with a glowing icon occupying a new item slot. The number of synthesis points need to perform the synthesis depends on the number of items that you have spectralized. For example, to synthesis 3 Power Crystals which give you a combined total of +6 to Attack, you need three Synthesis points. For more in-depth help, please refer to weapon upgrading. To earn synthesis points, you just need to defeat the monsters and collect those blue shards to build up the meter. Once the meter is full, you will get the weapon to level up. Different weapon levels up giving different amount of Synthesis points and stronger weapons can give up to a maximum of 6 Synthesis points per level up. Once a weapon has reached level 99, it cannot longer absorbs the shards or level up. You will find the name of the weapon changes as you level up. All the strongest weapons required you to defeat a required monster. You just need to defeat the monster in order to build that weapon. For example, to build up Sigma Breaker to Grade Zero, you need to defeat these 3 enemies - Bundy, Moonflowephant and Toy Rock. They are found in dungeons from Chapter 6 onwards. Chapter 6 refers to monsters in found in star-gate blocked areas. (You can refer to the walkthrough for the monster's location) As you progress onto the game, you can buy more advanced versions of the weapons. Some of the stronger weapons can be won by uncovering treasure chests in dungeons like Zelmite Mines and Moon Flower Palace. Weapon Flow Chart ------------------- The build-up flow chart features the weapon's minimum stats that you need to reach in order to build your current weapon to that desired weapon. The strongest weapons are marked with ` symbol. > and < refers to the arrow heads. > could means up or right while < means left or down. Along with the stats, I have include the support abilities that weapon will gain upon reaching that level. The support abilities are denoted with the followng symbols.
